hi guys!

i have 2 veiled chams.. male and female when i attempted to breed them the male flares? is this normal? then the female turned to its nonreceptive color? does this mean she has eggs or she JUST dont want to breed YET? please help :(

Welcome to the forums. How old are your chameleons? It could mean that she already has eggs OR that she's just not ready. Here's a video by Dez that you might find helpful and a couple of links about breeding.

This is very out dated and from years ago since I just raised 11 baby veileds and spend way more than this in feeders and they aren't even 2 months old yet, but you'll get the idea.

How old are your chameleons? How are you introducing them? Are you putting the male in general females cage or the other way around? How is the female acting...calm a day not gaping or rocking or what?

what i read was put the fem on the male lol.. the female is 1 year and a half and the male is unknown but telling from his coloration he is rbeedable.. the male flares and opens his mouth then the female opens her mouth turn to nonreceptive color rocks and hisses THANKS AND PLEASE REPLY :D

If the female is showing non receptive hen of course you can't leave her with the male. Try holding the male so the female (while in her own cage) can see the male. If he doesn't flare and she remains passive hen you can introduce the male into her cage.

I've seen males act that way when they are a lil to young and seem to not recognize the female as a breeding partner bug rather a rival. Also males seem to be much more territorial and as such I would move the male to the females cage ( only if she seems receptive )
In my experience it's hard to tell a males age simply by color. I have 3 month old Chams that are totally capable of throwing adult colours.
