After a couple of months of thinking about this, my 10 month old Ambanjo male, Rango, is finally having his first "affair" this week. His date will be at the place we purchased him, here in Florida. This store specializes in exotic pets and their staff is exceedingly knowledgeable and reputable. That in itself makes me feel better!
We've picked a beautiful Ambilobe female for his lady. She is a beautiful rusty pink with yellow hues and blue "dots" all over when she flares and has a very friendly disposition. She's the same size as Rango as well.
I've been offered a fairly sweet deal (I think): 50% of the eggs, OR 25% of the hatchlings, OR Store credit, OR, my pick of the clutch, OR they will buy me a Cham species of my choice (from another proven breeder).
I know you can't ever predict coloration of the babies, but Rango is full of Reds, Oranges, Blues, Greens, and Turquios's. They should make beautiful babies together!
I've been assured the female is healthy and parasite free. I've even visited the shop several times to look her over (including feeding habits and looking at fecal coloration).
I guess the rest is now up to Rango.
I plan on taking my video camera and tripod and filming this event.
