panther chameleons are always in the $125-$600 are they harder to breed and stuff or is it just thier coloration that makes them so high priced?

i dont know a whole lot about it but i think some of them cost more because they are captive bred, raising any cham takes a lot of time, money and patience though..

also im guessing supply and demand has a part in it, they are the most popular that last i checked.mmm... a lot of reputable breeders seem to pick out nicer/brighter chams to breed and stuff like that.. kind of like buying a purebred dog or something.

i could be all wrong but thats kind of what i assumed when i decided to take the plunge

Wild caught animals are just as expensive as captive bred ones. I think a lot of it has to do with supply and demand, especially since they are very plentiful yet the price never drops.

Ok, I guess I'm wrong. I can't tell if you were trying to poke at me or if you were agreeing that its because they are popular.

1) it takes a LOT of time and effort to raise babies of any kind
2) panthers are more because of the demand for different colors honestly
3) petsmart doesn't buy panthers wholesale so breeders can set their own price without having to worry about competing for profit
4) they range to how colorful they are showing when they are young... Ex. Holdback panthers
5) panthers are AS common or as easy to import if I'm not mistaken which makes WC bloodlines harder to get...

If I'm wrong correct me this is what I'm aware of

im not sure about other types of chameleons, but i know that their clutch sizes are smaller than that of veileds
