raising discoids outside in FL

I was thinking about starting a discoid colony for all my insect eating babies. I was wondering if anyone keeps theres outside? Do you have problems with other pests (ants etc) getting into your enclosure? How well does your outdoor colony thrive?

I keep mine in the shed outside in north fl, they actually do far better out there this time of year than with artificial heating inside during the winter. One thing to watch out for is mold, if you use bedding make sure it's very dry first and then mix roach chow in, if you use a new bag of moist coco and mix the chow with that it will mold. You can also use no bedding and not worry about mold at all but I get better production with a chow bedding blend.

Let us know how it goes. I plan to get a colony started in South Florida in a week or so that will also be stored in a shed. I'll probably try no substrate first and see how that goes. North Florida doesn't have as much of the afternoon thunderstorms as South Florida from my experience so mold is my biggest concern.

We get the T storms here! Some gave me some dubia to colonize but Florida actually arrests for having dubia.

I was planning a deep sterilite tub, I know they can't climb but I'm not taking any chances!
