I'm really sorry for your loss. Trey and I just lost Mr. Mojohnson, a Nosy Faly and our first cham as well. It is really hard and nothing can prepare you for how hard it is to see. I was in tears an entire day and couldn't leave the house.
I don't know where you got your feeders from but we did occasionally get crickets from PetSmart which we are now pretty suspicious of because they don't take proper care and I don't believe their conditions are sanitary.
I'm certainly no expert but I would imagine that since it is bacterial you should be able to disinfect everything and it would be okay to re-use. I would maybe ditch any live plants that you might have and get new ones though. And we are making sure to disinfect all of the free range places as well. And you might want to use a round of diluted bleach just for good measure. One part bleach to ten parts water and then be sure to rinse really well.

Mojo also seemed to be doing a lot better the day before he died. My mom who is a doctor told me that is how most people act as well. They seem to be doing better right before they die. Maybe they find a sense of acceptance and peace right before they go.

I'm really glad to hear that you aren't giving up on chameleons though. Just remember that you did everything that you could. And most importantly that you gave him a great and happy life while he was here. Unfortunately life is a fleeting thing, so you have to enjoy what is around you. He will always be in your heart, isn't that the most that anyone of can ask for; to be loved while we are here and remembered when we are not.

Let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.

Sorry for your loss aswell Stacia, I also commented on Trey's post. You guys had a beautiful faly, but things happen. We can learn from our experiences and make ourselves better. I was shocked when I heard you guys lost Mojo :( and when Jasper died, I thought of how much you two cared for Mojo and felt what you guys were going through. It's shocking when you think you've done everything possible to help out your cham, then the next time you check up on him he's dead.

As for Jasper i'm glad he passed. I know he was suffering a whole bunch, i was getting tired of force feeding him, force feeding meds, handling him too much, etc. He wasn't living a great life at all. As much as I cared for him and did everything I could have done, he was still being stressed out by his parasites, meds, etc.

Atleast I know i tried...And know with Mojo you did everything you could have done. So i know for a fact he lived a great life under you and Treys roof.

I plan on getting a new cham soon so I don't have to see the cage so empty. So i can understand what you guys are going through. It's hard when you come home and see an empty cage :(

I appreciate all your kind generous words Stacia! I wish you and your family the best! Maybe we can get clutch mates? Let me know if you decide to get another Faly Male. Thats def my next cham. I've been talking to Texas Ranger, he said he'll have a few male Falys ready in a month or 2. Might want to send him a PM? I'm currently on a list.

I am so sorry for Your lost. I have been there when my jackson died all I did for day or 2 was cry. It sucks to lose something You Love. Us humans/chameleon keepers Learn by our mistakes. He has a plan up there.
Find yourself a new chameleon and get back on this horse!!!
And the parasite thing really sucks and there no 100% way to prevent This.
Anyway your heart hurts jasper is some where better.

Hope find a new chameleon but jasper will never be forgoten:D

I'm so sorry that you lost jasper! I was really hoping he would pull through for you.

If you plan to reuse the cage, I would definitely do the peroxide cleaning and maybe look into a good steam cleaner too just in case. I would throw out the vines and plants and get new ones to be safe.

Jasper will def never be forgotten! Just hit me know how much I really miss having a cham...I hate looking at his empty cage everyday, it's depressing :(

Thanks Pssh, I sprayed them down with peroxide and let them sit for about 40 minutes to an hour. Then rinsed them off with water and repeated the process 2-3 times. I plan On doing this atleast 2-3 times a month till i get another cham. Also i plan on power washing them soon.

But to everyone who's lost a cham, I def feel your pain! I miss my little guy so much...
