I have a small female housed alone, which i have recently purchased. I'm growing her on a little & making sure she is feeding & drinking ok, before trying to breed her with one of my males. She is a little smaller than the males, most probably WC, so dont know her true age, though she looks to be a young animal. Once i feel she is ready to attempt breeding her, is it best to introduce her into the males viv or vice versa?
If they do successfully pair up, is it best to permanently house them together or separately & only introduce them to each other to breed?

i"m curious to know which is a better cage to mate in as well.. or a different cage altogether?
however, based on what i"ve read on the here, you should separate the male and the female immediately after breeding.

With R. Brevicaudatus you can keep them housed together. I wouldn't recommend more than one male being kept together but the male and female can live together no problem.

As far getting wild caught brevs you never know how old. If you put then together and she is not mature she won't display and nothing will happen. If she is mature then your business.

Males can be somewhat territorial, however mostly with other males.

I have 1.2 brevs housed together in a large Viv with plenty of foliage to go around. These little guys live to breed and a female can be "mature" as young as 4 months of age. It shouldn't matter which Viv you put which in. Just put then together and he will find her no problem.

You don't need to separate after mating in my experience unless you only have small vivs. It's recommended to have 5 gals per Pygmy.

Thanks for the info guys.
Viv is a 45x45x60cm high (18x18x24inch) exo terra. This will house a single pair.

That is fine for a pair. Just have plenty pathways (twigs, sticks, leaf litter) trees, plants etc. For then to hang out on and explore and you will have no issues.

What's your husbandry like? Can you post a pic?
What's your temp and humidity like?

Currently fitting cork bark panels to back & sides of viv. Have posted pics of viv the males are in atm, in pygmy enclosure section of this forum. New viv will be much the same, but is taller rather than longer. I will be splitting them up & moving one of the males along with the female (when she's ready) into the exo terra i'm doing up atm. Will house the other male alone in a smaller spare empty viv i have.

Current temps are, low 20's daytime, drops to around 15c at night. Don't measure humidity, but must be ok, as it never totally dries out between sprayings. Which i do at least twice per day, more when i'm home & not at work. Half of the exo terra mesh roof is covered with perspex, as i found before i did this, it dried out too quickly.
