Just wondering ..... I gave my beardies a couple of pinky mice today for the first time and wondered about my Cham? Can they eat them? He is around 14 weeks and not tiny - not sure if they be a little big or not but great source of calcium surely? The snake loves them!! Wanted to check first so havnt given.

Thanks

Not a general good feeder. Chameleons do not do well with animal protein. He should not eat them until he is at least a year to a year and a half old, and at the most, you can offer them once a month.

Vertebrates are not a notable part of chameleon's normal diet in the wild and too many animal proteins in the diet of an animal that's not a carnivore can wreak havoc on their kidneys leading to kidney damage and gout. Pinkies are very high in fat and very low in calcium (they don’t have bones yet) so they have little to no health benefits for chameleons. Gout is a very painful incurable buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints. Everything your chameleon needs can be obtained through an all-insect diet with good gutloading and many very successful enthusiasts and breeders have sustained multiple generations with an all-insect diet.

Thank you. Think I will keep them for the snake and occasional treat for beardies. He is too precious.
