Two different chameleons can have two different sires. One chameleon only has one dad/sire.

I think what you're talking about is when people mention the mother's sire (father), to give an idea of what color range is possible. So someone selling babies would post a photo of the actual father and the mother's father, and sometimes even further back on the family tree.
