questions first time owner

I finally pulled the trigger on getting a Panther.. This will be my first Chameleon but I am a VERY experienced reptile owner. The difference is in the past with dragons my roomates would feed them while I was out of town and my iguana had an outdoor cage that had a garden that he would feast on while I was gone.

So with a Chameleon what do you guys do if you go out of town for the weekend? My mom would easily come over to my house and take care of him so thats not an issue, she took care of my iguana for a few years while I was gone in the Navy, so shes experienced as well.

I am just curious what you do for care? I ordered the monsoon misting system, everything will be set up on a digital timing system.

So just getting an idea of what the community in a whole does.

Also i am looking to perhaps getting into breeding next year after I get more adjusted and educated. I am a computer IT so i kind of revolve around technology. Are there any systems that can attach to your network then to software to send notifcations of temp. So that I can monitor the temp and humitidy remotly from an App or get status changes from E-Mail?

If there isnt do you think this would be some thing the community would be interested in? If someone where to make software and design the hardware?

thank you and i have read through this.... but what do you guys do when your out of town for the weekend?

I have an aquazamp so he automatically gets watered, and he'll be fine for a few days without food. If your mom doesn't wat to feed him, just have her do all the cage misting while you're gone and be sure to feed him plenty the day you leave and the day you get back. If you're leaving at night, you could even feed him during the day, and put in a cup of crickets for him after he's gone to sleep to munch on the next day.

thanks i have the monsoon from exo terra on its way. ordered the cage and everything i need for him before he gets here. But everything will be automatic misting and also a drip bottle of steady drinking.

This is basically my order but i also ordered the lighting system from some where else. arcadia lights..

Will be making a custom enclosure in about 6 months or if he grows faster then planned.

I just dont go anywhere LOL
On those rare occassions when I leave, I have a pet sitter fill the drippers daily and provide feed (lighting is on timers). And adult animal (I dont breed anymore) can easily go a weekend without food. Even water if needs be though I dont let that happen. so if your mom came in and provided water on the weekends you're away, you're rocking.

I have temp and humidity guages in each cage, which retain high/low info. I check those once a week to make sure everything is staying within expected ranges. My home is pretty predictable, so the environment doesnt change much in the cham room

thanks we dont go that many places that often, my wife is an athletic trainer so she really only gets 1 month a year when schools out to go places so we may go to the coast for a weekend.

I wouldnt have an issue having a sitter i was just curious what other people did..

Also feeding wise, i saw a video of a guy who all ways has food in his cage, its live and healthy food but all ways has something for it to eat. Does this support optimum growth or should it be avoided. He used worms, not crickets though so they wouldnt be all over the cage. Kept them in a feeder bowl.

Hey crixus, I'm getting my stuff set up as well. Nice order sheet, where'd you get all that stuff? Did you get that whole order from a single site? If so, which one? Thanks.

for the next enclosure ill be doing a furniture grade cage thats mostly glass with vents and computer fans for air flow. want to do a glass displayy and lower ends of it screen so there is no chance of him trying to climb around the screen. heard they can lose claws from that.
