i have a question. how big does you chameleon need to be to move up to a 2ftx2ftx4ft cage.

Well I guess the simplest answer is when your cham looks cramped in its baby cage. Usually around 6-8 months most people move their chams up to a bigger cage but it really just depends on your chams personal growth.
Plus I'd consider feeding, does your cham cup feed or hunt? And how does he move around? The reason most people keep their young chams in small cages is for them to be able to find their food and also not fall from such a great length if they accidently lose their balance. This is something to consider as well. Really just depends on your cham.

I dont think you need to move him into an adult cage yet. my veieled is 6 months, and i am still flip flopping on moving him into his 3x2x4 cage. I am unsure of him being big enough to handle the space and not freak, of finding his food, of not falling (which he will do cuz he likes to see how far he can stretch out and grab things)

he should be fine for now. just make sure to supplement him and get him to drink. you should be good. i kept a male veiled in a 3 foot cage until he was about 8 months. then moved him up to the 4 foot cage. I like to have the chameleons hunt for their food. I never had a problem with him not eating, but just watch your little guy. Good Luck!

IMO, I dont think there is a problem on having the baby in a big cage from the beginning IF you can keep an eye on him. when my 2 veileds were babies (2-3 months) I had them in the same cages I have them in now, 2X2X4' cages. I also free ranged the crickets but made sure they ate them. I stayed there watching them hunt the crickets. I have never cup fed my chams (i think it makes them lazy). I was careful with their supplements and was always watching them. they are doing fine now at 18 months old.
