Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Ambilobe Panther named kangaroo, Female, 2 months. Had her since January 16 2010.
Handling - Once every other day.
Feeding - Pin Head Crickets. 3 in the morning 2 in the afternoon. Kale and lettuce.
Supplements - Exo terra calcium without d3. 4 times a week.
Watering - Misting. 2 times a day.
Fecal Description - Black with white. On the first few days we had her she had yellow in the fecal matter aswell, but hasn't happend lately. Never tested for parisites.
History - Bought her from a reptile convention in orlando, fl.

Cage Info:
Cage Type -Reptile Screen Cage Chameleon Lizard 24'' X 24'' X 48'' from zoo med.
Lighting - Economy Clamp Lamp, SUN GLO NEODYMIUM BASKING BULBS 100 WATT. 6am -8pm.
Temperature - Basking area 85deg. floor area 73deg. Overnight 67deg. Flukers thermometer.
Humidity - Nothing need some tips...
Plants - Live umbrella tree, two sets of fake vines going to the top of the cage.
Placement - On a desk. Not near any fans or heaters or high traffic areas. Top of the cage is 6feet off the floor.
Location - Orlando FL

Current Problem - Not really any problems just have some questions.
1. Kangs is normally a white to tan color since we bought her but at times lately she has been turning almost a black color for about an hour or two and then goes back to her tan color. Something to worrie bout?
2. How much should she be eating daily?
3. Also we saw the parents and they were bright blue and green and we were just wondering when her colors will start showing up. She already has orange barbs on her eyes and back.

You need a hydrometer. Humidity is very important in raising a healthy cham especially with panthers. That cage is huge for such a small cham. Are you cup feeding or free ranging? Unless I missed it in the pic you need a uvb bulb. www.LLLreptile.com has them. Order a linear reptisun 18" 5.0. NOT the compact UVB. She should be getting calcium w/o d3 every feeding and with d3 twice a month. Multivitamin once or twice a month. I would also consider changing that basking bulb. 100 watts seems like a lot of heat. I would go with a standard 60 watt house hold incandescent bulb. And I would also cut back on the handling. Chams are shy territorial creatures that dont enjoy being handled. It stresses them out. Hope this helps

edit: I noticed you dont have anything for drainage? What are you doing with the water that pools at the bottom? I would get a dripper and bump the mistings up to 3x a day for 1-2 min.

For a 2 month old chameleon, her cage is way too big for her. She could feel lost in her big cage. Also, for such a small chameleon, I would suggest lowing your basking spot temp to 80 degrees. Also, try to have the lights on for about 12 hours per day. As far as humidity, you should be fine since you have live plants in there as long as you are misting her enough. You will still want to get a hydrometer though just to be sure.

When they are babies, you should allow them to eat as many crix as possible for 5 minutes 2-3 times per day.

Female panther chameleons don't express the same coloration as the males. Females are normally a grayish brownish color and can turn a nice peach/orange color around when they want to mate.

Along with the calcium w/o D3, you should look into getting calcium with D3 and also a multivitamin for her (both given about twice a month depending on what brand you get). When you mist her, how long are you misting her for? Also, do you have any kind of UVB bulb for her?

KP did you enlarge the image, the cage isnt that big, looks fine to me. Just make sure its finding bugs easy.

She should be eating as much as she can eat in five minutes about twice a day. As she gets older you may want to cut back to about 8-10 appropriately sized crickets a day, and around 6 months you want to start feeding 5-7 every other day (or 2 or so every day.)

Females generally stay brown, gray, orange-y, pink-ey, and tan colors with tiny flecks of color on the cheeks and sometimes random small flecks across the body. Even though females dont have much color, the color that they do have can be amazing.

Your cage is MASSIVE for a 2 month old..

A 2x2x4 for a two month female panther? I wouldnt even put my 6-7 month old in a 2x2x4 yet, she's so little.

I didn't look at the picture. I was going off of the information that kangaroo supplied. In the post they said that the enclosure was 2x2x4, which is too big for just a 2 month old.

That small of a baby might benefit better in a baby bin instead..i know my little Hiyori did...Panther babies seem to grow slower imo I have had Hiyori for almost 2.5 months and she is only twice the size she was when i got her. alo depending on the ambient temp wqhere you have the cham depends on weather or not it needs the basking bulb...if she were in a tote with the uvb on the top that would provide heat/uvb in one with adequite fake vines for climbing. humidity is a big issue at this age a tote/bin woud hold in humidity between mistings alot better..i moved my babies in an exoterra recently with a repti fogger!!! they love it

Very cute baby looks just like mine. My baby will sometimes turn blackish when it is UVB basking and sometimes dark brown when it is hiding. Other than that though it does its fired up colors when hunting and and is normally a nice healthy carmel color when relaxed. I have mine in a 16 by 16 by 20" reptibreeze, cupfeeding and it is doing great. Oh and its about a month and a half old.

Males start to show some color anywhere from 4-6 months, usually it is only green at first, but they don't get their full colors until they are 12-16 months old! Mine is about 6.5 months old and his reds/oranges and blues are just starting to come in!

I can't believe that cham is only 3 1/2 months! What a stunner. He is pretty heavily colored for such a young age, yes? more of the exception than the standard? From my limited experience most chams I've seen with than much color were pushing 6 months...
