Question for those of you with large potted plants

Evening All,

For those of you that have large, potted plants in your enclosures, how do you deal with poop, especially if you have river rocks or such on the dirt surface. Do you find yourself having to remove poop daily from the pots?

I have some large enclosures that will be heavily planted with potted plants. Just curious as to what to expect as up to this point all of my plants have been hanging (pothos) in the enclosures and are not an issue.

Mine don't normally poop on the plants,most of my chameleon eat on them.

So far, mine has missed the plant, then again, it is small and centered away from the perches. Only issue was today when I went to dump the water from the drip catching dish, he bombed that with a floater so had to take it out and wash it well. I also have large river rocks in my schefflera in the tank. I have pothos and ficus I am growing up as well, but not in the tank.

I use large plants, he normally misses it and lands on the side of the plant. Sometimes it will hit the large rocks, but the poop is so small compared the rocks it makes for an easy clean.

My plan is to have bare bottoms. I want to hang everything since they are rarely on the ground floor.

When Isabella was pooping on her plant I was spot cleaning everyday. Just because if you leave it on the plant to long the bacteria destroys the plant and causes those branches to die, just from my experience. But I would just spot clean the rocks thats all.

I agree with you overall, and this is how I have done all of my Panther cages, but in the case of the species I am bringing in, I need something more dense.

See this pic below as an idea and envision a third plant (maybe a Hibiscus) as well.

There will not be a lot of ground space, even less if I need to add a laying bin for a female.

I use multiple plants and rotate them in and out of the enclosures hosing them off and letting them dry in sun for a week before reintroducing.

I've gone from large potted plants to bare bottoms. I hang everything now. It's better coverage, and easier to clean. I use puppy training pads for substrate. (I get them cheap)....
