Question about nails

I know that if a chameleon rips a nail out of the nail bed then it won't grow back, but, is it the same if the nails become blunt?

I'm just wondering, as Lily managed to 'file down' her nails on her front feet when digging. All her nails are still there - it's just that she's worn down the sharp pointy tips. Will they grow back to their normal length and shape, or is her new manicure for keeps? She has her food dusted with calcium 3x a week, although before she laid she wasn't eating much so I couldn't get much calcium into her either. Everything that she would eat at the time was dusted.

The nails do keep growing, but most of mine have worn their claws down a fair bit and they stay worn down from all the climbing and grabbing of branches

I would never have thought of this being an issue. What a good question! So if the nail gets pulled out it won't grow back?

I'd never heard of that either. Does anyone know if this causes the cham any serious problems when climbing etc? Or do they just continue as normal minus a nail?

They go along like normal....

My veiled Jake has lost a couple of nails. He doesn't have issues getting around his cage except when he tries to climb the screen..... which he can't do very well anymore. I need to get some large screen that he can grip like you see in cages around the forum.
