Question about decor

I just bought a new enclosure from LLL and i'm planning on buying plants for the enlosure tomorrow :) I realized that i had a tree in my backyard that was recently cut down and i was wondering if i could use the branches from the tree to put inside the enclosure? is it safe? the branches arent small, they're kinda thick and the tree was dead for about a year already.

Thats what I do for a few on my cages.....just make sure u wash them good with some kinda disinfectant. I use a Hydroproxide mixture for mine.

Might be hard to bake branches of certain size Syn. Boiling soapy water (submerged)bathtub? , a really good soak and hot sun dry should do it. (I try to avoid chemicals where possible. The detergent helps remove dirt etc, just rinse well).
I have a tree in mine, has to be steam cleaned! :)

Well if they don't fit in the oven, how do they fit in the cage? Unless I just have a somewhat large oven..

ok thanks, at first i wasnt too sure of using them because i was afraid of bacteria or something on them. i had rinsed them good with cold water, ill soak them in hot water and soap tomorrow, i dont have a stove big enough that will bake them :p i didnt know that you could bake branches? how does that work?

the branches i have are 3 ft and my cage is 3 ft, they're kinda angle weird. i guess i wouldnt trust baking them in an oven :p

That is just fine. Plenty of us just give our branches a good washing and sun dry. Baking isn't the only option.

I tried the same kind of wash when i was trying to clean my beardies branches because crickets were hiding in them, and even completly submerjed they still found a way to survive...
Wraping the branches with plastic bags, and putting them in the freezer overnite ended up working really well though, if you have room in your freezer that would deffinetly kill the bugs/living things probably not bacteria
