Question about color

Hey all

So I just got Link an 8 month old panther on Halloween. He has been settling in nicely and is quite the fun little guy.

I'm new to his coloring and behaviours as I'm used to my veiled Loki who I have had for a year and is VERY consistent with his moods vs. color so I know exactly when he is happy and when he is UNHAPPY lol

So yesterday I looked over and noticed that Link was not his usual green and blue but really yellow and red. I know he goes yellow and red under his chin when he is startled or upset but he hasn't gone to this extent and there was no one by his terrarium at the time.....

I just want to make sure that he is ok and maybe figure out what this color change means.

Also if you notice on his back he has what looks to me like a burn, the guy I bought him from said it happened during his last shed but I'm not fully convinced....any thoughts on that?? The one pic is normal color for him and obviously the other is when he went all yellow
Thanks !

I personally think you just have to learn what the colors mean over time. I found that my Nosy Be panther's colors do not always reflect the mood he is supposed to be in for that color. Also, there is not always a different color for each mood. An example is that he is most bright and beautiful when he's excited. That can be happy excited or angry/upset/frightened excited. I don't have an ambilobe though so my guy's color shifts may be limited. See what others say, but I wouldn't worry yet if I were you. :)

Mine used to look like that when he was relaxed, now he looks like that when he is sick. Yours doesn't look sick, so maybe relaxed. He would turn that color, when he was sleeping and such. Mine turned a dark almost black so dark color when pissed.

Thanks for the replies :)

I was thinking it was either because he was relaxed or he was to warm, but he made no attempt to get away from the heat since where he is in that pic is where the highest temp in the cage would be. He LOVES his hammock lol....he sits in it like a dog sometimes its weird lol.....so maybe he is just really happy when lounging in it ;-)

Could be a few things, or just normal. Hard to tell. What do you use for supplements? I feel like I've seen a few yellow/sick chameleons because of over or under supplementing, or improper lighting. Since he's fairly new I think careful watching is your best bet. From the second pic he looks like he's on the thin side, maybe he's a little dehydrated? My guy is only just starting to be comfortable with drinking in front of me after 2 months so maybe yours doing is the same. How are his energy levels throughout the day?
