Question about chameleon claws

My chameleon has recently taken to climbing around on his screen cage a lot, and lately I've noticed that he's been having a harder time trying to get a hold and grab on to the screen very well. I looked really closely the other day, it it looks like one of his claws on his front foot is missing.

Do chameleons shed their claws like they do their skin? Is it a problem that it broke off, or will it ever grow back? I've never really seen anything about a chameleon missing a claw, and had some questions.

When chameleon claws break off they do not grow back, try adding more plants and vines for him to climb on, although younger chams tend to like the screen.

You can also line the inside of the cage with the plastic chicken fencing to give him something to hold on to besides the screen. It really protects the nails.
