Question about adhesives

I just recently upgraded my chameleon's cage to one that is much, much larger, and to fill some of the space, I had the idea to try and build my own "vine" for him to climb around on.

I've got some PVC pipe and some rope, and I'm going to glue the rope to the PVC so he can hold on. My question is if there are any types of glue that would be really bad to use, and any that would be okay. Things like super glue, Elmer's glue, or like a hot glue gun.

I just want to make sure and not kill the little guy

Why not just use the rope? Look for child safe, or non toxic glues. You might have a difficult time getting glue to stick to PVC over time, especially if you plan to mist, or use water in the cage. Might have to ruff up or sand surface of pipe before applying glue.

and another.. i would take all this in and weigh the pros and cons, to me i wouldn't use it. Even if it is truely non toxic or crickets could ingest it and be passed on. others have mentioned it can become brittle or break.

Why not wrap it around the pvc pipe and use a pull tie? or something? or drill holes into the pvc pipe and run it through it?

Gluing the rope is unnecessary. Try looking up some simple braids like those used for hemp bracelets. These braids can be done with rope at the center for flexible vines, or the pvc at the center giving you a sturdy vine. The possibilities are vast and infinite...;)
