I have a 1.1 in a 10-gallon tank and a 1.2 in a 12x12x18.
Both tanks are planted, but the 12x12x18 has much more twig/stick areas, and although both have laid eggs for me, the 12x12x18 are *clearly* happier and I am going to be changing the others soon.
Honestly, if I didn't have both tanks so close to eachother, I don't think I would ever have noticed the difference in their moods/behavior

I have 2 in a 12x12x18 and think they are happy but one more would be too crowded. The rule of thumb is 10 gallons for the first two pygs and 5 extra gallons for each additional. those 12x12x18 are 11 gallons.
