Pygmy fine tuning.

So i have my pygmy tank all set up. 29g all the drainage layers(hydroton, charcoal, top substrate, a pathos, some dracina, baked leaves and sticks.

I have been misting lightly 2 times a day to keep the humidity up around 70. and im using a 2.0 repti-sun UVB bulb.

a few concerns i have before i put my guys in there.

1) The amount of water im misting is the maximum i can do with out flooding the cage and i don't feel that my guys will get enough water. Does anyone have some "guide lines" on how much water should be sprayed? IM spraying about half a bottle of water from the "Mist'r Lizard Jr" which i bout a while back from the pet store. It holds about a glass and a half of water.

2) I have already noticed some fungus growing, i have had it up and running for 2ish weeks now. I removed the fungus, is this something that is a natural occurrence in a habitat that has such high humidity, if so i will keep removing it but i think i may be doing something wrong.

3) I haven't put any sow bugs or springtails in yet, would they help eliminate the fungus "problem"

Thanks!

I've heard that pure coco fiber bedding is a great substrate, and is naturally anti-fungal. I'm using it now, and so far so good. I also cut 4 plexiglass panels to place on the top screen if humidity levels needed to be brought up. Then I can remove 1, 2, 3, or all 4 panels if the humidity gets too high.

im using the cocoa fiber, the fungus is growing on the leaves...maybe ill have to do away with them...

Fungus is a result of too much water.

The tank should dry between mistings. Did you happen to read the caresheet. It is all covered in there.

Yea, i did.

I think i need a fan or something to get the air moving in the enclosure., something small like a computer fan that can come on every few hours or so to stir thinks up.

I think i am over watering because im used to how much my Veilds drink. Im pretty sure that a pygmy will not need nearly as much water...

Anyone else think a small fan would be benificial?

Im glad i set this cage up before i got my guys...this is a lot harder to get right than i thought...

A small fan and less water would be good. Springtails will eat the fungus.

I blow a fan over the top of the viv. I would recommend it.

should the fan run constantly? Or should i set it up on a timer and have it sun for lets say 30 minutes every other hour?

I run it 24/7 . Just make sure its not blowing too hard in the tank. Right over the top of it works best for me. Just enough to push fresh air in.
