pygmy chams feeding

So cute! That scared me when the one fell. I hope he's ok?

Thank Jann. Yes, she was fine after dropping from the branch. I had never seen that before either and it started me a little. She snagged her own cricket shortly after that.

:( I was hoping to pick up my pair of pygmys at the reptile super show yesterday but no one had any. Im selling my crested gecko and might get my pair this weekend at a store!!! :) Nice ones you got there! and just curious what kind of light do you have on there for the plants?

I got a pair of 12" square blue/white led grow light off amazon. All the plants seem to be doing pretty good except the Fukien tea bonsai. I will need to move that one out since its not looking too good.

That right side one did have some good range. I was surprised that he went for the cricket at that distance.

Thanks guys!

Dont throw it out. Just remove the leafs and if you have spring tails just let them clean up dead leaf matter

ok cool. Where did you get your bonsai from? I live in LA and in downtown there's all the flower marts and orchid places and they sell everything really cheap. I was gonna buy some orchids but then i saw you have a bonsai in yours and i was like Hey that's not bad a bonsai would look cool in my pygmy enclosure.

There's a bonsai shop close to me. The Fukien tea was 24 bucks so not too bad. The Texas ebony are doing great. If I had to get another it would be that or a Brazilian rain tree . All in the mimosa family with tiny leaves so they really look like miniature trees. The pic is a small Exo I have a single temporalis in. the rain tree is in front. The back plants are aralia parsley bonsai. All of those are thriving after 2 months.

And those do great with the led? sorry for all the bonsai questions :p i just like vivariums. What substrate do you plant them in?

Hey chameleoman what store in l.a. Sells pygmies cuz i tried getting at the super show and I got the last one at reptiles etc and it died in just hours as sadly it was WC and it was the saddest thing watching it suffer I knew I would regret getting it but was the only one but if you want a cb one voodoo chameleons is getting some at the end of the month

They do well with led. I was surprised to find that led is good for plants in terrariums.

I used a base of white drainage rock and put some quality soil about 4 or 5 inches deep that I got from the bonsai shop. The guy there teaches terrarium classes and told me they are getting away from the hydroton balls and layer of charcoal. After 6 months the layers are not providing any filtering anymore. If it all stops working as I have it I will post that up too but it looks better than I thought it would and getting better each week. I put a thin layer of coco fiber on top for some color and baked some crepe myrtle leaves and scattered them on the floor.

I would be concerned about the amount of bacteria that would be growing in something like that. Water features are tricky especially for chameleons. I tried doing that kind of thing a few years ago with a canister filter and it was impossible to keep tree frogs healthy. Chameleons would be much more difficult. If you can make it work let me know how you did it.

Chameleoman I would wait until the of the month because john voodoo chameleons told me himself that he will have young cb Brevs and epic chamelons left me a private message after I posted a thread about him saying he is a great guy and a man of his words
