do pygmies need to be kept in pairs or trios?
or is it ok to keep 1 male alone?

still not sure what type of pygmy i rescued
will post pic later

Pygmy chameleons can be kept individually. If you post a picture someone here will definitely be able to give you and ID on it.

when i went back to the pet store it was about 55 degrees outside.
they had all the doors open so it was 55 in the store.
this poor pygmy was in what i was told was a 2.5 gallon aquarium, no lights, 1 stick, and a dozen crix that looked too big. the reptile guy took him out of the tank and put him on my hand. the poor thing felt cold and lay on my palm a good 2 minutes warming up so that he could get to his feet. i could not leave the store without him.

any tips would be greatly appreciated. i have 1 - 4 month old veiled who is doing well. so, if i figure out what i need to adjust for this guy i think he will be happier.

I cant see the picture.

Care depends on what kind it is, but generally pygmies like it cool, around 70-74 degrees or so, and not above 80. 10 gallons is the recommended size, and plenty of plants and branches for climbing and hiding. Substrate is not needed if it is a male, but females need it for laying eggs. Mist at least twice a day, but allow the cage to dry out between mistings. Use appropriately sized feeders and supplement like you would for a montane species (like a jacksons.)

You were right. That is a Rhampholeon spectrum. It looks like a male. Males have a thick tail, and females have a thin tail that tapers to a point without any bulge.

Spectrums like it cool -- 70s. Lots of foliage and humid. In my experience, they like to hide deep in the foliage.

It is for sure a male, males have a much thicker talebase then females.
Most chameleons in the Brookesinae subfamily are solitary animals, so you can for sure keep them solitary.

The need mid to hight RH and low temps.
