My dad just finished my cage lastnight. It is 5ft tall 3 1/2 ft wide and 2 feet deep. I was wondering If I could put my two babies in this enclousure togther. One is around 6 maybe 7 inch Baby Veiled and The other is a 6 inch baby Panther. I would of course Have 2 basking spots and Multiple feeder cups. Do you think it would be ok? I plan to have an Umbrella plant, A ficus, And a really big pothos plant with a giant stick in the mibble that all the vines grow up. Do yall think it would be ok to let them shar the cage until they get a little older??

are you really asking this question?.

well first off, NO the mixing of species is not the best idea. and in addition around 6" is that SNV or full body, ? mixing chams of this age in an enclosure that size.

just a bad idea, vieleds are a bit more aggressive territorial, and can really put on a show, one i bet would be rather threatening to a young male panther.

The enclousre is 5 feet tall. In total it is nearly 7 feet tall with cabinets under it. It was being bult for Mr Ester and he is gone now..........

They only have an inch diffrence in size. And it is the size of thier entire body tail included and It really is not that dumb of a question considering the size of the cage. ;)

I figured since the cage is the size of about 10 of the baby cages they might be ok.

Provided a given seperator, then maybe. but the idea of mixing species, is just the worst part of this.

What are the ages of your babies?
It seems to be accepted that before a certain age babies should be in a smaller cage, so finding food isn't too stressful - this may not apply to animals with feeder cups- and like I said, I'm not sure of the age of your animals, but it sounds like the cage would be too big anyway.

Second, mixing species is hardly ever a good idea, unless an exceptional amount of research has been done- and I won't pretend to be the judge of who's capable of doing it and who isn't. In my mind- the first rule of mixing species is that they both need identical habitats, Veiled chameleons need warmer temps than Panthers- and babies are known to not realize when to get out of the basking spot, so I think this would pose some dangers for your panther.

Remember that chameleons are solitary animals, so in my mind the mixture wouldn't work. If you do go ahead with it, please consider a cage separator.

Good luck!

Not a good idea Codi. If they came across each other at one time or another it may be a battle to the death regardless of how big the enclosure is.
