Prolapse + New Issues in Recovery

I can't copy and paste the "how to ask form" so I'll have to paraphrase it and hope I cover most of the items.

Male Veiled, approx 10 months...only had him 2 months though
Diet of crickets, mealworms, and try veggies but he's not interested.
Feeders are gutloaded with carrots, cucumbers, and the flukers orange cube things.
Handling a few times/week
Supplements: previous owner was dusting with calcium WITH d3 every feeding and multi a few times a month...we've laid off on d3 almost completely since in hopes that it'll balance his system out.
Lighting: previous owner had a PowerSun 100w :-( ...which I think added to the d3 overdosing...now he's on reptisun 5.0
Showering: a few times a week since we got him....Texas has been super dry and he looked dehydrated when we got him.
Cage: he's still in the one he came with from previous owner....approx 20x20x36 half glass half mesh...we thought this was okay since keeping humidity up was a problem.
Parasite testing: no, but due to current situation getting a sample has ben impossible.
Poop/Pee: See current issue...no poop, urate is white, but very mucusy and runny.

Current Issue:
Right after Christmas he had an intestinal prolapse. It was put back in, apparently without issue by vet, but during the timeframe the poop (that he had passed was dried out and she was unable to test for parasites). She treated him for parasites anyway. There was no indication of impaction. Since them, he hasn't prolapsed again, but hasn't been eating on his own and hasn't had any poop for more than a week. Yesterday he vomited up the worms and cricket that we had fed him over the last few days. He still looks well hydrated, but is becoming slower and dragging his vent around behind him (like his back legs are weak). Vet really couldn't give us any other ideas except to supplement with cat food...and wait and see... Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm worried about the eating thing. Vet said his weight hadn't dropped too much in followup visit.

Will try to post pictures when I get to a computer.

forgot Several things...

Watering: drip system, misting 3+ times per day for a few minutes each
He was fed 6 or so crickets per day, split up morning and afternoon, and mealworms a few every few days.
Location: Texas...his cage is in relatively low traffic area, but not as high as I'd like.

And he did have small, kinda runny poop while his stitches were in and right after they were out, but not much (if any) since.

Let me know if I'm missing anything else that could help.

Oh and because I've seen it asked before, no substrate. And I forgot to incl his basking light and temps: gradient up to 85 in basking spot. Night gets down to 65ish here...

DO NOT give cat food. Im sorry your vet is so sh)(y :(
Does he have a basking light so he can digest the food? That is unprofessional to not do a fecal then put him on meds anyhow:mad:
I cant be of too much help, but try to keep him hydrated for sure.
What supplements do you use and exactly how much?

We haven't given cat food...it sounded questionable.

Yeah he has basking, sorry I didn't include that. Supplements now: RepCal Calcium without d3 every feeding...although having to feed him by hand, its not staying on. Herptivite 1-2 times per month.

Like I said, there's a good chance we inherited the problems from previous owner, but wanted to see if we can save him at this point.

Good job.

It should be a VERY light dusting anyhow, I blow the excess dust off my feeders before feeding

I wish you the best of luck, and hopefully some one with veiled experience or that has had a similar issue can be of more help. Sorry:(

If you mean an xray, then no. But she said she did a manual examination, basically made sure his tongue/throat was clear and felt around his belly/vent for anything.

Even though she had expressed concern about it being parasites at time of prolapse, when she wasn't able to get the fecal test, the parasite treatment wasn't until the followup when the stitches were taken out. At that point his urate was very mucusy, so she said that led her to believe it was parasite and not impaction.

We were at no point led to believe it could be impaction, that nothing pointed to that (ie no substrate, no huge diet/changes to diet, etc)...were we totally sent in the wrong direction? I've heard impacted chams, if not taken care of immed deteriorate really fast...he's been pretty up and down for a month.

I was actually thinking calcification of bones/organs may be more the issue if the parasite treatment wasn't working....that would have been a ton of calcium getting metabolized with all the d3...right?
