Hello! I am a owner of a veiled female chameleon..We recently bought her from a local petstore (2 weeks ago today}& according to them, she is 4 months old..the next day we went to purchace crickets & ran into the owner who then told us she came with a note saying "surprise I am pregnant!"...umm not quiet the surprise I wanted but shes here so now whats the next step? I know she is very young but how will I know if they are fertile or non fertile eggs? Or if she is even pregnant? Also,we went tp the petstore yesterday & asked for the proper stuff to make a egg bin for her just incase..they told us to buy this bag named zilla jungle mix...anyways came home, made her a bin,and she got in....but started to eat stuff...after we looked closer we realized some was some type pf bark, wood stuff,so we removed the bin....whats the correct stuff to buy? Here is a picture of her taken yesterday...she is currently staying ina 50 gallon tank with proper lighting & screen venalation on top...we are getting her a screened home soon

The following video shows how to make a laying bin:

https://www.chameleonforums.com/laying-bin-set-up-educational-video-77225/

The picture is blurry so it is hard to say for sure, but her abdomen does look somewhat enlarged so she may be gravid (carrying eggs). If she was kept in the cage with a male which seems common in pet stores, they may be fertile. You won't be able to tell for sure until she lays them and you can observe them.

However, if they are fertile and you incubate them, you could potentially have 25-90 baby chameleons in six or so months.

Wow- they told you "surprise" and then sold you the wrong stuff - I'm wondering what other wrong information they gave you- check the resources here for proper care
https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/ and jannb has a blog for new owners - I would also suggest reading up on gut loading - what you feed your crickets can make a difference in keeping her healthy before and after egg laying-
Welcome to the forum - I should have said that first -
Get some washed play sand from Home Depot or Lowes - it will cost you a 10th of what the zilla jungle mix cost - and the link below is great-
