so what is the reason to going to t5
are you going to use a uvb bulb?

Yes...Thats the reason for the conversion I want to use the new Kick Butt Arcadia T5 reptile bulbs found at Todds store.... www.lightyourreptiles.com From what I read they give off super UVB and last alot longer before replaceing.

@ Dave: Since the t5 bulbs for a 24" fixture are two inches shorter, Do the end fittings accommodate for the shortage of bulb length?

YEP!!!! Actually they are 1 5/8" shorter I have the T5 Arcadia here already. The trick to the bulb adapter ends is you "HAVE TO" determine the start method of your ballast and get the shunted or non shunted 1's

Well the UPS man was here today with my new ballast and end fittings...Too bad no 1 was here to sign for them...... Looks like tomorrow we will try again..

Got my parts!!!!! Look for a new thread to show how to do the conversion!!! "UP DATE".... Talked to an electric specialist & he said... No matter what ballast you use (1 or 2 wire) just get the unshunted end fittings & if your ballast has only 1 wire you just plug 2 wires into the end fittings and connect those to the 1 wire from the ballast, this will energize both prongs on the bulb!
