So my power is out from a big storm last night and I do not know when it will come back on. All my chameleons are still sleeping but the lights should have been on an hour and a half ago. My setups are not by any Windows and it is pitch black in the room. Issue right now is I kinda need to leave for work and I won't be able to be back for like 7 hours. I don't wanna put food in the cages and the misting system has not kicked on because well the power. What does everyone think ??? I mean if I leave and power comes on the worst thing is they don't eat till late today but what if power is out all day and my chams are in the dark do I just let them be ?

Assuming this is a short term issue (the power) I don't think you have anything to worry about. No long term effects will occur over a few hours of darkness. I would mist them by hand if you can before you leave just to make sure they're at least staying hydrated. I think you'd be fine to put food in the cages without the lights on. Are there absolutely no windows in the room to let in at least a little bit of light from outside?

My cages are in the basement so zero light from windows....I didn't wanna wake them because then they are sitting in the dark...I guess I just fell bad more then anything

7 to 11 months so they are not babies.....I think I am going to run into work and leave early so I can see what happens this afternoon. I found out it's a transformer that blew and it's being worked on so hopefully it's not long.

Hopefully it'll be back up and running while you're at work. Shouldn't take long for them to sort a transformer out.

They should be fine with a handmist and some extra sleep, just make sure you reset all the timers once the powers restored. I can usually tell when we've lost power while I'm at work bc I'll notice bed time is later than it should be, with all the summer storms we've had this year I bet I've lost power over an hr at least once a week luckily never more than 12hrs or so though. Downside of living in a neighborhood known for its old oak groves, worst thing is the city just redid all the lines and put new poles up instead of moving everything underground like the rest of the beaches.
