I don’t know if it’s really flaring up…I think it’s more likely that they can’t control their colours or rather don’t have the energy to keep them.
They do try not to look weak to but there seems to be a point where they just can’t do it anymore.
How long it takes them to die depends on what they’re dying from and how strong they were IMHO
You did well to have him that long! He was a beauty too! Keep him in your heart and memories! May he RIP.
