Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male Jackson chameleon. He is a little over 1 year. He has been with us since he left the pet store.
Handling - we take him out about once a week
Feeding - We feed him mainly crickets (small ones, about 5 a day). We gutload them with the green cubes from flukers. We also give him mealworms and wax worms about once a month.
Supplements -Calcium dusting about once a week
Watering - We have a drip system in place. We mist at least twice a day but its hard to keep the humidity up in the winter. We see him drinking on occasion but we arent around to watch him all day.
Fecal Description - His droppings are round brown with white attached. He has not pooped in a few days.
History - His sperm plug came out a few weeks ago.

Cage Type -Mesh cage 36x18x18
Lighting - We have a uva light that is on a timer for about 10 hours. We also have a heat lamp used mainly in the mornings
Temperature -His cage is usually about 70 degrees. it drops to 65 at night.
Humidity - our humidity in the winter is hard to maintain. Its between 30-40 right now. The cage is misted with a spray bottle at least twice a day.

Placement - The cage is located near a large window. low traffic area, he is up about a foot from the floor.
Location - We are in brooklyn

For the past two days Tom (my chameleon) has been dangling his hind leg from the branch. I took him out and he will move the leg but not grip anything. I have not seen him drink water in few days and he is sleeping a lot. He has not pooped in three days. His coloring is fine and he has a good grip on his other three legs. He has been eating some of his crickets but not as quickly as usual. He has moved a little but not much. When his sperm plug came out I was FREAKING out but it was a totally normal thing. I just want to know what this could be and if I can fix it doing anything at home. Its cold here and I'd rather not take him outside if it can be helped. If I need to take him to the vet can anyone recommend one in the nyc area?

Thanks for any help!!

Well it's probably not related to his legs but spray him way more because jax love a lot of water but it might have been a bad fall. Anyone else wanna pitch in

If your UVB light is as old as your cham, it is highly probable that it is not producing adequate UVB; they should be replaced about every 6 months.

Also, are you using calcium with D3, calcium without, a mixture, ??? They don't need D3 all the time, but they do need some.

Finally, you need to be feeding the crickets more variety to improve their gutloading and, thus, your cham's nutrition. If you could feed the cham more variety, that would probably help as well.

Here's some helpful information about feeding chams.

When a chameleon dangles it'd leg for prolonged period of time they may be experiencing pain. Does the leg look swollen at all?

I don't think he fell. His legs look about the same to me. When I took him out I was trying to see if it seemed like he was in pain but he didn't.

He also finally had a BM. I will replace his light and continue to spray him. I read about putting him in a pedialyte bath to help hydration. Has anyone tried this?
