possible MBD?

hi y’all,
i’m worried that my chameleon might be developing MBD but i’m not entirely sure on what i’m doing wrong.

he’s had a small bump on the right side of his hip that the vet confirmed to be very minor MBD but it was pretty much healed and it wasn’t affecting him that much. but i’ve noticed it’s grown a little and one of his front arms is a bit swollen.

i am taking him to his vet again on friday but i wanted to come on here and get opinions as well because i am worried.

i’ll include some photos of the bumps as well as his enclosure and the calcium i’m using.

any advice or opinions are all appreciated.

info:
- 2 year old panther chameleon, had him since he was 4 months old
- lives in a bioactive X-LARGE ReptiBreeze cage
- 75w basking bulb. linear UVB T5 HO 5.0 bulb (gets replaced every six months)
- gets fed dubia roaches every 3 days. calcium w/o D3 every feeding, calcium w/ D3 every 3 feedings, calcium w/ MV once a month

You said..." gets fed dubia roaches every 3 days. calcium w/o D3 every feeding, calcium w/ D3 every 3 feedings, calcium w/ MV once a month"... It should be phos free calcium on all feedings but one a week. On that one feeding you should use a phos free calcium/D3 powder one week and the next week a vitamin powder with a prErormed source of vitamin A. The wrist bump could be gout or an infection...I'm not a vet and Can only guess. The hip bump doesn't look like MBD to me...maybe an infection...maybe calcification from too much D3 in th,e supplements. The Mineral indoor has D3 in it and so does the Repticalcium...in addition to that you're not giving him vitamin A which is needed to balance out with the normal amount D3.

Scan down to the vitamin D3 and calcium article on this site...

i thought that it might’ve been from too much D3 but i wasn’t entirely sure, i’ll also check with the vet to rule out an infection. i’ll definitely check out the article you linked as well as get different calcium’s that are more appropriate. thank you for your advice!

It does not look like mbd to me. Make sure your taking him to a reptile vet. Otherwise they will not know what the heck they are doing.
I may be wrong, but I don’t believe a bump like that is from mbd. That looks more like a growth by the tail. I’d try a different vet.
i have been taking him to a reptile vet, but i will look around my area to see if i can find another one and get a second opinion. i appreciate both your help!
