Possible Eggbound Chameleon

Glad to hear this!

Regarding the sand…there is a type produced by Kings that comes in a white bag with red, blue and yellow sand toys on the front that I’ve used for years. It never causes blockages like some sands can and doesn’t irritate the eyes either.

Veiled females can easily live to be 6 or 7 years old as long as the reproductive issues are managed.

Hope yours makes it to a ripe old age!

In case any of you are interested in what ended up happening here, I did end up taking Fern to the vet. For educational purposes, I think the result here is kind of interesting. We did xrays and the vet was absolutely thrilled. Her bones look absolutely amazing and she had no eggs. He was shocked that she's 5yo because she looks so healthy. What she did have was a ton of sand in her belly. The vet thinks that her hole caved in on her after she laid her eggs and she accidentally ate some sand carving her way out. This could explain why her eggs ended up on top of the sand. So she's currently on meds to try to help her pass the sand. The working theory is that the constipation from the sand feels similar to her to the feeling of needing to lay.

Just thought this might be interesting to some of you. And if anyone has had a similar experience, I'd love to hear more.

Thank you for taking the chance of standing up for your little love. I know it's tough, when others try to disway you, and there's a lot who will detour you. But love and persistence always prevails. 💕
