Possible broken tail??

I have a male veiled cham that is about 1 1/2 years old. I took him to vet a few weeks ago for a check up and he bite the vet!!! The doctor's natural instinct was to pull away and when she did he was accidently flung to floor. He seemed fine that day took him home & did not notice any problems. A few days later I heard him fall in his cage, picked him up seemed ok. I have noticed over that past week he is no longer curling his tail it just hangs down straight. He is still walking ok & having bowel movements with no problem. I heard him fall again today!! Has anyone ever had cham break tail before & what kind of out come did they have? Will tail rot off if blood supply is poor or will it just stay limp forever?:(

I had one break a tail. We (the vet and I) tried to splint it but he kept getting it caught on things and gradually the broken part died off. I suppose if we had put it in a cage with nothing at all in the cage it might have been okay..but who knows. After it was completely dead, we cut the dead part off leaving a stub of dead tissue so that it could heal naturally and fall off on its own eventually. We only removed the dead part to stop the chameleon from getting caught on things with the stiff remains of the tail. The chameleon was put on antibiotics a couple of times along the way to make sure that he didn't get an infection. He did fine without the tail.

Did you talk to the vet about it??

Yes I talked to the vet briefly today. I was kinda thinking that would happen to my little guy also. So far tail does not look discolored or anything but I think he keeps falling because he keeps getting it caught on branches & stuff. I never thought of splinting tail. I know my vet has done that before with an iguana but not sure how well it would work with a cham since it curls. Thank for your reply I will keep everyone posted!

Trama from being accidently thrown to the floor upon exam by vet. My sweet little guy took a great big bite out of vet's thumb & her instinct was to jerk away and when she did he was pulled from the nurses hands and fell to the floor.

this is sativa, she doesnt have much of tail. she lost it some how before us, but she does JUST fine without.
