Poss URI in ambilobe.. help pls

One question Mika, for the fecal did you just bring some poo with you and he told you the results right then and there?

Lol.. I actually scooped one but then he pooped on the way over there so they took that one.

They gave me the results right away.

Why? Did you get yours right away?

Did your cham have worms too? If they did, was it roundworms?

Well...the same cham that saw Dr.Greek would'nt eat for a while, so I could'nt get any. Dr. Greek recommended it...now that he has been eating well lately I wanna get one done. Luckely its only a 25 min drive. Im thinking of going there this weekend or sometime next week to get one done.

Oh yeah, if you get the fecal done it's fast. An assistant took it from me then I saw Dr. Greek, talked to him while he was checking the cham, went to the back room and after not even 10 mins he came back with the results.

He's very knowledgable & he knew how to hold em and open their mouths easily. He even showed me how to administer the drops..LOL.

My cham became almost black in color while he was being held by the doc.. Poor cham

I wish my drive was that short :(

Is that the cham with the eye problem that won't eat?

Yeah...Its the cham that had the eye problems he also has some sort of edema thats going away. Dr.Greek is a nice guy he knew how to open my chams mouth and everything (my cham was also trying to bite his finger off):D. He also showed me how to administer the drops in his eyes. The good new is that his eyes have gotten better and he's eating, so all I need is a fecal for this guy.

Batryl is used by many keepers and it works when administered correctly, I have had more success with Fortaz...but I know many who have success with Batryl. Batryl is just harder on your chameleon. Also Fortaz is injectable.

Does anyone know if URI goes away with just fixing the husbandry?

Or does the cham need to be dosed with meds for it to go away?

Thanks!

My 2nd day on Baytril and my cham seems to be getting worse. His colors are dark and his eyes are sometimes closed.

The vet says it gets worse before it gets better.

Is this true?

My ambilobe also has a URI and has been on Baytril for 2 weeks. He just finished it and i am soooo happy it's done. There were a couple of days where i didn't think he was going to make it. The only problem is his eyes are still closed. But he also had worms so i just started him on Panacur. He has been off Batryl for 24 hours and i already see a small difference in him. He is much more alert. Not sure what to do now though that he still isn't eating and eyes still closed. I think i am going to wait to see what 3 days on Panacur does. Good luck with your boy.
