Poop Spots!

Hey everyone. i wanted to actually open this thread to get some good humor in it. My Cham has a certain way of doing things. He went to the bottom of the cage this morning and was just sitting there. I Knew what he was doing so i left the room for a little while. When i came back there was the present at the bottom. He always goes to the bottom of the cage LOL. so Does your cham have a POOP SPOT!? LOL

Yup! My guy will crawl to his lowest branch and let a leg hang. LOL Its great for us when a cham does this. Makes for easy clean up.

Chameleon will poo in the area they want there food. For instance my cham will poo in the front bottom of the cage. He always gets his worms at the front of the cage.

I've noticed the same thing... its nearly always in the the same general area.

When animals establish "poop spots" they are called "latrines". Some of our chameleons are "latrine oriented" and some are not. In our experience it is not even species-wide. We have a male veiled who goes way out of his way to use the "latrine", while another male veiled wanders so aimlessly while pooping that his urates dont' even fall near his fecals. Some of our panther chams are latrine oriented and some are not, as well.
