Feel free to add or edit. Let's see where this goes. There's so many threads about poor husbandry and idk why my cham died, I didn't do any research or listen to any of the suggestions I received. It's aggravating so I wrote this.

Why did my cham die?
I swear I really did try.
I put it in a cage with a light,
It was only a house bulb but it was bright.
I fed it crickets.
The petstore said that was the ticket.
I didn't gutload or dust
No one said that was a must.

What chams like to climb and live in a tree?
Why did my cham die?
Oh because I didn't try.

Day after day because I decided that was right
I was told to leave it alone
and let it settled after it's journey to my home
I fed it crickets.

I don't have money for proper pet care
I've never heard of Google, I swear
I mist him by hand everyday and feed him orange Fluker cubes, full of calcium, surley this is ok!
Why are you so mean,
Why isn't my chameleon a healthy green?
I love him and pet him, I do everything right, it would seem!
I've done all my research, which is why I've decide a Petco cham is best
I didn't bother to read the caresheet
You're expected to spoon feed me the basics, with a bit of sugar, just like all the rest
I care so much about my little Cham, but not enough to stop and think
He has a big ole bowl of water, now why the heck won't he drink
This forum is so cruel it hasn't nothing to do with me being a tool
I'll do things my way and show you all that I'm an expert, not a fool!
Don't ask me to fill out the asking for help questions or refer to the caresheet,
I already know everything
That guy at the pet store said the blue bulbs look really neat!
My cage is too dim, my plants all die,
What do you mean this 10 gallon aquarium isn't best for my little guy?
Gut loading? That's crazy!
I bought the best Flukers has to offer,
No, I'm not being lazy!
He just loves his cuddles and kisses,
His closed eyes or frantic escape attempts have me in stitches!
Can I use this plant and what soil should I get?
Why can't I just buy everything together, in one perfect kit?
Experience is for people who aren't already smart,
I'll buy this little guy on impulse and still give him the greatest start.
My chameleon has died, must be all your fault, you didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, so I'll berate you all, while I go off to sulk.
I killed my first cham, but have no fear!
There's a cute little guy at Petsmart, I'll bring him home tomorrow and not even shed a tear.
No tears or shame for a life so miserable and short, for which I'm to blame.
Chameleons can't really need that much care, you're all insane!

Folks, this has got to be a new low for the forum! There is nothing funny about the death of someone's chameleon, be it from Petco, private breeder, or wholesaler. In my experience, people who has lost a chameleon based on an impulse buy, inexperience, young, or old, feels just as much pain as you would if one of you were to loose your chams. This is because of the emotional attachment to the chams as family members. How would you feel if someone ridicule you for loosing your Veiled, Jackson's, Panther, or Parson's? As the saying goes, "sometimes Karma can be a real b*tch!"

I'm a bad poet I thought that was the point I was making. If we disparage new owners they will not stay and listen.

No there isn't anything funny about someone's cham dying and that's not what this thread is about. It's about our frustration with the poor care many chams receive and how new members come here asking for help and then refuse to change their husbandry. It's about the idiotic things we see day in and day out and how sad it is that so many people purchase chams without any research into their care 1st.

I "rescued" both of my veileds from petco, and lost one. I came here for help, knowing very little about chams at all. That's not what this tread is about. I was open to learning, willing to listen to the experts here and capable of making the changes necessary. There are SOOOOOO many that get a cham on impulse, take terrible care of it, come here for help and aren't willing to listen to the advice. I think that's the point of the thread. Everyone is a new keeper at some point and there's nothing wrong with that, we get aggravated by the new keepers that know everything. And the issue with chams from mass market pet stores is that that they are usually already in poor condition and impulse buyers generally aren't equipped or informed enough to care for them. I know I wasn't, when big foot's condition get critical a few days after I got her I came here panicking. I couldn't save her, but I was willing to learn. I spent days scouring these forums for how to nail my setup and I learned so much. So don't think I am making fun, I know that pain first hand. But watching the same situation, reading the same posts, dealing with stubborn new keepers over and over gets frustrating and sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

If you research my postings to those asking for help, I don't ridicule anyone. I gracefully exit the thread, when I see that the person is frustratingly dense. If people see how they are perceived, maybe they'll make a better effort to educate themselves. While I don't condone being abusive or cruel to people posting on the forums, these general statements don't attack anyone in particular and if it offends someone into browsing a caresheet or not buying their chameleon from a company that allows the perpetuation of misinformation and poor husbandry, then I hope they cry rivers over the poems. If you come here and haven't the faintest idea of the basic care of a veiled chameleon and you're chameleon is suffering for it, that's is a choice in the Information Age and being called out for it might make you a little butt hurt, but should also wake you up to your responsibility.
