My new little man will be arriving this morning and this is his new home! I lowered the top to make the cage smaller. lowered my 60watt basking to 40 and its still running at 86 it did drop from 89 though. I'm going to attempt to put the clamp on the lamp and make it higher so hopefully that will help....Any advise on this one I would appreciate it :D I added alot more branches and 2 more vines. I have large smooth rocks over the dirt. I did take the plant down to roots and put organic soil and washed off the leaves (that wasn't so fun:rolleyes:) I have a 18" reptisun 5.0. I have 2 digital temp/humidity one under the basking light(i took the pic before I hooked it to the side) and the other one is sitting on the pot on top of the rocks. I also have hiding spaces and a vine going to the bottom of the cage now too. The stuff I have conected to the sides are with coated wire. The basking temp should be 80 morning and 84 afternoon...right? I know the basking light has to be no closer than 8 inches, can it be a little further to adjust the temp?

I like it. Do you have a drip tray at the bottom of the cage to catch your excess water? Whats your nighttime temps?

the temp last night without misting yet at all dropped to 72 degrees. The humidity at the top dropped to 45 and 57 at the bottom. I have the black tray in the bottom. I just turned on my drip and its just pooling the water on the top of the cage....????? Do I need to cut a hole in the top for it to drip into the cage?

Thanks Julie!!

UPDATE! UPS just came! and RAN into his new home! :D

You can take a phillips screw driver and force the tip in till it makes a big enough hole for the dripper hose.

Thanks everyone! Can anyone tell me can you have your basking light too far away and still have the right temp? I now have it more than 8 inches away to get it to stay between 80-85 degrees....is this okay?

@Manik6 That worked great thanks for the tip!

Congrats on your knew man. 82 should be fine. They say babies can burn easy and can't regulate their temps like juveniles but I have seem do it just fine. Just make sure the in the peak of the day it doesn't get too hot. Have you fed him yet? Its best to let them settle in about an hour before you offer them food.

That should be ok. I use a 40watt house bulb with the lamp sitting on the cage. Right now its sitting at 88. Thats about the highest it gets mid day.
