Hi. We recently got our Panther chameleon from a pet store. He/she is about 3-4 months old. We'd like to know the sex and also what kind you think he/she may be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think female panther.

if it really is a female... then you wont be able to tell locale as all female panthers look basically the same.

Hello!
Welcome to CF!

Super glad you found us;)

That is a female furcifer pardalis(panther chameleon) but any attempt to guess her local would be just that, a guess.

I would guess ambilobe. You will never really be sure ;)

She is beautiful!

EDIT: I would also say she is at least 4.5 months old, but thats JMO.

have to agree with SS she does look alot like my nosy faly female but as said its just a guess with females
oh and WELCOME!!!! :D

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. She's pretty awsome. We have been calling her a him and thinking of boy names for the past week. We will have to take another week to look up female names now...lol! What are the main reasons you all think female?

male panthers have a thicker bulge at the base of the tail underneath. no bulge, and with that size, they should be showing some amount of color, females stay roughly brown/tan/peach colored through adulthood.

What type of pet store did she come from?

I would suggest that you contact them, and see if they know who bred her, and they or the breeder may know what local she is.
It would be worth your time to try and find out.

I named my first chameleon Damon, that chameleon's name is now Stella:p
Mixing up sexes is not an isolated incident;) Lol

Just want to say, feel free to ask any questions you like, and share your opinions on things around here, its what the forum is for. :)

Again, welcome.
