I just bought a panther chameleon he's 4 months old. I live in a old house that don't have a heater, and it gets really cold.I've had my little guy for 2 days now and left the lights on for him all night so he won't freeze. Is that bad? He's eating good and drinking good. The temperature at night gets around 70 degrees with a small plug in heater. Can anyone give me some advice. Thankyou=]

They need it to be dark at night. You can use one of these I suppose. Once its an adult it can take temperatures down into the mid 60's or high 50's at night with no problem. I like to keep the babies closer to room temperature.

How cold does the house get? If it gets down below 50 F you may have a problem (and choosing a basking reptile was possibly not a great idea), but anything above that will be OK as long as your cham can warm up thoroughly during the day. No visible lights on at night...chams do have full color vision and night light will disturb it. When you feed him don't do it early or late in the day. They need to be warmed up to digest their food properly.

You should NOT leave the lights on at night. He needs darkness to sleep well.

You only need a night temp of 68F/20C while he's young and it can be as low as 65F/18C at night once he's full grown adult.
I'd say 50F on a regular basis is much too cold for a young panther.
During the day you want an ambient temp of 70F-75F, hotter basking spot for a baby up to 81F/27C.

If the chameleons area is getting colder than this, Time to buy a space heater :) Or if for some reason you can not do that, get a ceramic heat bulb (gives off heat, but not light). These are much less desireable than just heating the room, since the ceramic bulb focuses heat on a small area and the heat rises away, while the rest of the cage is cold. But its better than having a light on.
