my female veiled chameleon just layed about 20 eggs. she has not eaten for quite a few days, I was wanting to give her some oral supplements but did not know how to go about doing this. she has just been laying on the ground i think she may be egg bound im just not sure what to do for her and there is no vet anywhere near me that can do anything for her. i have a sand laying container for her, a large flower pot and have been trying to give her privacy it just really worries me that i find her just laying on the ground. what can i do??

well i honestly had no clue what was going on with her and i didnt know she had eggs in her she just layed them on the ground i didnt notice her digging or anything, prior to her laying the eggs her behavior was pretty normal as far as i could tell. i put the bin in there after the first 20 because another person i know suggested that n said she could have more inside of her

Eeekk! Has she shown any interest in the laying bin that you placed in with her? Is it possible for you to take a pic of her and post it?

yes i can but she has really just been laying on the ground i picked her up and moved her into the bin she has like no strength at all it seems

And there are absolutely no vets around you?? Even is they are not specialized in Exotics(chameleons in particular), they could still run diagnostics and be able to see if she has retained any of the clutch.

well i kind of glanced in her cage and it looks like she has dug a little bit i dont want do bother her though and i cant really get a good pic through the sides, should i try to do some kind of supplementing or just wait it out?

yeah i could try but a few of them reffered me to one of the vets and the one they reffered me to told me that they can look at her but they cant do anything and told me to bring them info i find off the internet i canceled it though cause i figured they wouldnt be able to do anything, like they said. i dunno.

No, if she is beginning to dig do not interrupt her at all. She needs to be able to lay the rest of her eggs. I would check on her quietly if possible in about an hour. If she is still tunneling, let her be until the morning. Some females go through the entire process and act like it was the easiest thing they have ever done, but for some, it can take quite the toll. Keep us updated and I'm hoping for the best. Just remember that she will always need a laying bin present in her enclosure from here on out!

okay well thank you for all your help! this is my first experience with chameleons and this forum has been very helpful for me with learning how to raise her properly!

Absolutely, I'm glad you are taking the time to learn and ask questions.
