looking for any help.
Simone is not eating on her own.

First of all, here is Simone's info:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled, Female, unsure of her age because I adopted her at petco. They said "he" was about year old. I've had her for about 6 weeks
Feeding - 6 to 8 small crickets in the morning, 4-6 meal worms also, repeat in the evening if they are all gone. gut loading my crickets with orange, cereal, & cricket food.
Supplements - I dust my crickets & mealworms with Flukers Calcium.
Watering - I spray/mist 3-4 times a day.
Fecal Description - NONE found in last few days
History - I got her from petco

Cage Info:
Cage Type - exo-terra size: 18 x 18 x 24"
Lighting - I use a 60 watt incandescent house bulb for basking, and a 5.0 zoomed reptisun compact bulb for her uvb. The lights are on from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Temperature - Around 80 to 85 Degrees F. Overnight it gets to be around 70 to 74 Degrees F.
Humidity - The humidity is around 60%
Plants - aritficial
Placement - in living room
Location - Rochester, NY

She laid 36 eggs on Sept 18th..I removed the bin & am now waiting to see if they appear fertile.
a week later I found another egg on the floor of her habitat.
I was wondering if she was eating properly, so I put them in a container, & she has not eaten them. I ordered phoenix & butter worm from mulberry farms & she will let me feed her (putting them in her mouth as she perches on one hand) & she does eat them. (last night first time several of each).
but no feces still. this morning she seems to be even less active. & her grip does not seem as strong.
I have a call in to my vet & am waiting for a call back. (she does lizards)
right now she is laying on my belly. watching me.

Update POOP
I put Simone back in her room & after a slow climb up & then back down the vine, she pooped. OMG! it smelled rank & rather than even try to describe it, I took a couple of pictures. there was even an live phoenix worm in it.

.
I am hoping that whatever is the problem has passed, I know I always feel better after emptying out.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

my vet called & said to get a infared bulb for at night as maybe it is too cold at night, the temp has dropped at night here.

worse now

omg....she just pooed again..this time it was all the worms she ate since yesterday...whole... with blood & mucus....I think she is on her way out...:(

I hope you can get her to a vet sooner than later. That poop looks bad and if you said there is blood now....well Not a good thing. Good luck with her and I hope you can get her the necessary attention and meds she will need.

I would make an emergency vet visit with her ASAP. I imagine, if no place else to go, Cornell should be able to help.
Good Luck and keep us posted

thowing up

this morning I got up to find Simone eating a meal worm & she has eaten a butter worm. I was giving Simone some water with beef broth with an eyedropper this morning & gave her a couple of phoenix worms which she was acting interested in. she seemed OK & then she started to regurgitate & up came the worms she had eaten. I think after seeing that I believe that she had regurgitated what i assumed was the second poop yesterday.
I will call the local reptile vet tin the AM. I spoke with one in Buffalo Yesterday & she suggested some watered down beef broth (for the protein & calcium). & she seemed OK with it. of course no one was open other than the local emergency vet yesterday & they said they didn't usually do reptiles.

So tomorrow I will call the local vet who does reptiles (who is going to be out of town for an extended period later in the week).

you need to call a vet ASAP. Like today, not tomorrow...... there is obviously a problem and it might be to late if you wait......

No one available today
The man @ "the Reptile Guys" said they usually die after laying an infertile clutch. Said I shouldn't have gotten a female and spoke to me like I am an idiot.

Which is what idiots do when they don't know what they are talking about......
I would suggest not feeding her anything else until you get her to the vet. Not even the beef broth, that might be why she's throwing it back up?

Simone & vet visit

I will be calling the Vet's office in the AM, a local Vet who the pet store said they took her to with the broken pelvis....
I am still upset about that guy @ "Reptile Guys"...i am going to post a review of his attitude on a local site fro customers of places.
I know I have done all I could, considering how much I looked up before I got her & had the habitat all set up before bringing any home...
But, that guy was just rude & implied it was all my fault she is dying....

Thanks for listening & the advice. I will post what the vet says...

Sue

Hope all is well.

Incase they wanna ask any questions, refer the reptile guys to this thread. My veiled deffinately did not die after lying an infertile clutch.

Simone eating again & eggs

OK, here's the update, I called the Vet's office to ask a few questions & to get a rough estimate of costs...after talking to them I noticed that Simone had started eating... she zapped a cricket while I was watching (she would not eat the ones in the container) & had eaten 3 worms out of her shot glass!! The beginning of the week at work was crazy & no way I could leave early. But she seems perkier (& cranky again), & has pooped again... looked better, but one phoenix worm wasn't digested. I always try to make sure she has food for during the day, so she can digest it better with the uvb light & all.
I am so glad she is interested in the crickets again. I am hoping she has turned the corner & I get paid tomorrow, so if I have to I can afford the vet. (OMG$$$) tho I would have found a way if she hadn't improved.

a side question... I looked at the eggs, laid 9-19 & they are not shrunken at all & seem to be whiter... all the pics i see of incubation show the eggs lying on top of the vermiculite. is it better to keep them under the sand? hatchrite? vermiculite? & what am I gonna do if they all hatch???

Sue

Simone not a male, duh

I am having soooo many new adventures with her...

Another quick thought:
The local reptile vet is the one who they took her to with the broken pelvis...
and yet the people at the store were not told she was a female... geez...makes me wonder who knows what they are talking about in this 'hood...

Seems like the only one who seems to be aware of what is going on for her is Buster, my Welsh Terrier....
