please help now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point, I would go ahead and make a vet appt. before she becomes worse, like mine.

I am in a similar situation, only mine is doing much worse. No moving, sunken in eyes. I have a vet appt. for her this afternoon.

hi, its a round tub big enough for her to turn in and theres about 5-6 inches of damp sand but i dont think shes even been down to try it no food then, ok , should i try and spray her. i havnt been near her yet.shes still sitting up in the same branch with a fat belly

Mine wont lay unless they have at least 12 inches depth. One demands 18". And the bucket must be solid/opaque in colour (not translucent). Also some of them wont lay unless the bucket is the lowest spot in the cage, so I have to stuff a bunch of big towels down the small gap (the cage is a bit bigger than the laying bin as the bin is only 1.5' x 1.5' and the cage is 2' by 2') to ensure the sand is the lowest possible spot.

Moving her now may not however be the best answer, unless you are taking her to the vet. If she returns to the branches and sleeps at night, you could slide a bigger sand bucket into her cage. Obviously make sure its easy for her to get in and out of.

If she is in the branches you can give her water. She is unlikely to be interested in food.

When Lily laid her first clutch she had a choice of two laying tubs. One had just damp play sand in it and the other a soil/sand mix. She preferred the soil mixture to the sand.

please can u check out my gallery photos of the viv with the basin of sand at the bottom and tell me what you think. i took her photo with the zoom on she seems to be in the same branch

You said..."no food then"...the idea is not to stop feeding her...she will stop eating on her own if she wants to. A female may only stop eating when she is carrying a lot of eggs...some never stop right up until the actual laying. As long as she is in the branches you can feed her...but don't leave any uneaten insects in the cage once she starts digging.

This is the way it should go....you provide an appropriate site for her to dig to lay eggs if she wants/needs to.

If/when she is digging you should not let her see you watching her or she may abandon the hole. If she abandons it often enough she may get past the point of being able to lay eggs and become eggbound. It should be fine for her to be fed and watered when she is NOT digging and is up in the branches.

She should start to dig when she feels the need. She may dig several test holes first but should settle on one and dig it until she is satisfied with it. It may take a few days. When she is happy with it she should turn around bum down and lay the eggs, fill the hole in, tamp it down and return to the branches.

If she needs to lay eggs and she doesn't follow this (above), there could be something wrong....and you will need to take her to a vet. The problem is knowing when something is not right. If she shows signs of decline....sitting low in the branches, sleeping during the day, lethargic, etc. then its time to take her to the vets.

I hope this helps!

thankyou for the brill advice.she did lay three eggs to start with and now everything has stopped.she use to dig and go to the bottom of her viv-now i dont think she does. D they have a break inbetween , or has she just given up . shes been sitting in the same branch .dosnt want to eat.shes still alert enough i will note all your warnings
thankyou thankyou
im also waiting on the vet phoning me back with an appointment and costs

WOW......i just went to offer her a misting beceause shes sitting up high and when i got close i noticed she had dropped another egg i just left her right away. there has been no digging what shall i do now

nothing else has happened since that one egg this morning .a chameleon breeder came out to see her and told me to bathe her in warmish water every two houre for 10 mins .she seems to relax when i do this it even made her drink and eat a little when she came out.and she did start pushing again.her colours are allways nice and bright.

I dont get it.....

ALL THIS URGENCY !!!! (on the internet)

....and you have not taken this poor critter to a vet.

TAKE HER TO A VET

NOW

TODAY

GET OFF THE INTERNET, AND TAKE YOUR CHARGE TO THE VET.

I am not judging, its just that if I put myself in your chams position, I wonder why your not helping with real professional help. When YOU got her, YOU accepted responsability for her care. YOU need to take responsability and YOU need to DO SOMETHING. This is one of Gods creatures that is in YOUR care. No excuses about the cost of a vet, that is something any person should consider when taking on responsability for any animal.

Gather your keys now , warm up the car now, and take her to the Vet now.

thankyou and you are so right.we have been snowed in all day and unable to get out in my car.i live on a farm and today , the only way out was to walk a mile and a half to then get a bus then tha nearest vet is over an hour. my appointment is as already arranged with the vet...as soon as poss...she is going to inject her and give her an xray.so im only on the internet beceause i cant settle or even get out .
I also rescued her and another from a tiny viv [they were housed together !}to give her a better life and so far have spent over £300 in two weeks just housing her properly.i do accept costs and am responsible
tomorrow i hope the road isnt frozen and i can see the vet.im tring the best i can

One thing I hate most...

... is someone who will berate pubicly and then apologize privatly.

I knew there HAD to be some reason why you had not taken her to a vet, given all the urgency. I assumed (ASS u & ME) that the reason given would be money. I was pre-loaded to blast you for that one too, but it was only a swing and a miss.

I am sorry I should not (ASS u & Me), but I guess my excuse is that I got my dander up over another creatures suffering. We have big weather here too, and that makes a lot of things just impossable.

We are having rather extreme weather right now in the UK. For instance it snowed last week (exactly a week before Christmas) and I don't remember the last time we had snow before Christmas. Although they are more used to this weather in Scotland where the OP lives, the weather we are experiencing is not what we expect for so long at this time of year. Down in the south of the UK where I live the whole transport system grinds to a halt if we get so much as 2 inches of snow. We are lucky down here - the Island has not had snow, but just a few miles across the water on the mainland things have been treacherous to say the least.

You need to take her to the vet...but in the meantime, try digging her a hole and putting her (head down) in it...it might not work, but its worth a shot. Do you have any liquid calcium? How big are the eggs she's dropping?

This has worked for me one time.

Sandy my thoughts are with you and your girl. This has been going on for a while now :( , I hope the roads are clear tomorrow so you can take her to the vet.

Please keep us posted
