the vet only told me to let him sleep, and i didnt step on him entirely only started toI'm sorry about your chameleon dear. There is nothing we can tell you on the forum that the vet has already told you, more than likely. It doesn't sound good from what you are describing. I have never heard of anybody stepping on their chameleon before.
Did the vet take xrays? I would be very concerned about broken bones and internal hemorrhaging... Did you step on him completely or just start to?? I'm sorry, but I think you need to be prepared, because that does not sound good at all. I hope that he recovers, but I am skeptical... Maybe someone else on the forums has some different advice.
I would suggest that if he does/doesn't make it, you should never leave a chameleon unattended for any reason.
I'm really sorry about your little man..
the vet only told me to let him sleep
I'm somewhat confused about this advice. Can't imagine any other vet would tell an owner to leave his pet and doing nothing after an accident. Have you been by a vet specialiszed in reptiles or did you only phone someone? Did you tell your vet that you stepped on the chameleon? Was the chameleon examined by a reptile vet? Was there anything done as treatment?
If he has inner injuries which aren't discovered yet, waiting and doing nothing will cause his death. And even if he had no chances at all, there would be the option to put him to sleep before letting him die slowely.![]()

Sounds like you need to phone a herp vet. Also there could be bone fractures...Chameleons are very delicate and i'm sure by stepping on them by accident can cause some type of fracture/ serious bruises.
If he turns dark in a area he may be bruised. Or he could have a fracture somewhere. Pictures would help us and other members that can maybe help you. Usually bruises heal on their own and theres nothing you can really do about them.
Did you talk to a herp vet? or did you just talk to the person who answers the phone? If he/she told you to let the sleep most likely they're assuming theres nothing to do and your cham may die on it's own. WHICH is ridiculous because i don't think a vet would ever say anything like that. Unless you didn't talk to a vet...
Good point, that didn't even cross my mind...Exactly. I am concerned about internal bleeding...

I'm worried about lack of info requested!
The op has been asked questions on here about vet but has come up with very little. Has op actually taken his/ her Cham to a vet? The " let Cham sleep "seems odd to me as we'll as others. With a seriously injured Cham I think a vet would have done more or said more. I do hope the op has taken him to a vet but nothing in this thread tells me he has. I worry for the Cham.
