Hi today I purchased a Jackson Chameleon, he is about 2-3 in. (can any one give me an idea of how old he is?). I am feeding him crickets, but I was wondering if any one knows if i can also feed him silkworms or any other sort of diet' or is he to young. Another question I have is that i have been browsing and found some awesome ideas to as to how exactly to place the crickets in the cage? I really do like the ideas i just really don't know where to begin. Can any one please give me some pointers as to how to start and so forth. I would very much appreciate it.

Hi! Welcome.

Most sites that sell feeders offer them at various ages...just buy small ones for your small chameleon.

Check out both the "food" and the "enclosure" forums for answers to your questions...I could provide you links but it's the old "give a man a fish" thing....you can find almost everything you need to know on this board, so it's good to learn to look around!

hello welcome to the fourm and congrats on the new lil one.
at 2-3 inches id be guessing about 5 months old.
common feeders are crickets, roaches, silk, horn, buttter, super, and meal worms
i like to freerange the crickets into the cage to encourage a natual hunting feeding behaviour and i usualy hand feed worms, place them on a branch in front of the cham, or use a small cup hanging from a branch.
i also with younger chams often use the same shallow cup and put the crickets into it, they get out slowly into the cgae but i gives youngr chams a chance to get em fast if they want .
i will attach a care sheet i did for montane chameleons alot of the info can be used for jax as well.
