Please Get yourself a Vet now

If you have a pet particularly an exotic pet, Please consider finding a vet you can get a relationship with....I am posting this because although i was reluctant to take a pet to the veterinarian for years (likely 10 or more) originally because of cost and more recently out of a perceived lack of need particularly if the pet was doing well my recent experiences have totally changed my mind.

I woke up Tuesday to find one of my new female montiums (owned for 2 days) on deaths door and the other one looking "off" but seemed better that evening. i lost the first one hour later while at work. Wednesday i called to get the remaining montium in to be seen but no appointments were available so i left a message with the vet i had seen twice before. He remembered me and in 20 minutes he called and got me in. She is still in poor condition but would not have made it till today without his help and guidance. Too many times i see posts about unable to find a vet or get an appointment and therefore i decided to post this.

Until we have ER and urgent cares that specialize in reptiles we need to know who are veterinarian is and how to contact them

I hope i convinced at least one of you,

Sean

PS if you think people Urgent Cares are expensive consider what a reptile urgent care would cost and it would be cash only (no insurance) ouch:(

Excellent message! I would advise people to find a good chameleon Vet and make an appointment even if there is nothing wrong. This establishes a good relationship and it is 100x easier to get an appointment if you are an established patient. My Vet would meet me after hours at the office to deal with prolapses, etc...

Very good post.

I had the same problem with my dog...he got really sick and I called numerous vets but no luck, so I had to take him into the Emergency Clinic which the visit alone is $100.
