I just bought a Dwarf Schefflera and am about to clean and repot. My question is what have you guys used for potting soil that is chemical/fertilizer free? Does anyone use stones/rocks to prevent the chameleon from digesting the soil? Is the automatic misting/dripping enough watering for the plant or does it require additional watering? I appreciate your answers!

I use Miracle Grow Organic potting soil. It's the only organic stuff I can seem to find around me. I just make sure to break up the big clumps and take any large items out of the soil (bark, etc.). He's been eating the soil and haven't had a problem with it. It's seems a normal thing for Chams to do, eat soil. Some say that they get some trace elements from it that they do not get from their diet.

A 50/50 mix of plain topsoil and peat that is sifted to remove any larger pieces is what I use and recommend.
I do not try to discourage my cham from eating soil and have had no problems with this mix.
Top soil alone does not provide enough nutrients for the plant (in my opinion) and it can get hard. The peat moss offers natural fertilizers and keeps the medium loose.
