I disagree. Most of the ornamental crotons we grow are not dangerously toxic to people or pets. In fact, they are aften included in salads in SE Asia. The yellowest varieties have the mildest flavor; I've eaten many types with no ill effects.
Most greenhouse grown plants will have been sprayed with a array of horrible pesticides and fungicides that you would want to wash off.
Veileds can do quite a lot of grazing; you might want a different plant like pothos or dwarf scheff, or hibiscus if there is strong light.
