Plant pruning

i have a schefflera arboricola that has been trodded over by my juvenile panther and most of the shoots are now bent and not looking as good as when i got the plant. He is now in a larger enclosure and not walking all over it but he does like to drink from these leaves rather than the ficus so im not going to go crazy (probably only 2-3 cuts). So, if pruned do the shoots grow back fast? Also, can i take the cutting and put it something (water, soil) to grow roots?
i am new to keeping plants and i want my cham to be happy.

Schefflera grows slow so cloning it would take a long time to get a usefully plant but it can be done.

When you prune , cut off the stem right in between two leaves. This will cause it to split and grow another two stems. This is a Good way to cut it down and get it to fill out in the future.
