Plant: Peperomia Magnolifolia & General

I recently went to a local greenhouse and bought a golden pothos but I also spied a unique and fun looking plant which they called a Peperomia. I'm pretty certain it's full scientific name is Peperomia Magnolifolia.

Does anyone have any information on this type of plant? Has anyone ever used or heard or it being used in an enclosure with a panther? If so, is it safe, or not?

ALSO::::

These plants the greenhouse "claimed" had only been sprayed with pesticide. I'm going to repot them in organic soil and clean them anyways. My question is, how long must they be replanted for until deemed safe to put in with my chameleon? My mother-in-law suggested repotting only a small portion of the plants, in hopes they'll flush out any bad things from their system.

I've heard several different opinions. What's yours?

Probably would be safer to stay away as it is not a proved cham plant. Unless anyone else has any information. I try to stick to the list of proven just to be safe. I don't like to play with the little guys lives. ;)

I re-pot and wash my plants then put them in the Cham cage almost right away. I do let them sit in the sun to dry after. Panthers are probably a little safer to put in right away as they are not big leaf eaters.

I am curious as to what others do. It will be interesting to see.

Rachella,

I've kept Peperomia peruviana in small tropical enclosures before (they are one of my favorite genera), but because peruviana is a very small and fragile epiphyte, I only tried keeping it with Rhampholeon (as well as amphibians), so this may not help you much.

I agree with Ryan-- unless you can acquire specific toxicity information, stick with "proven" plants.

Fabián
