Cant say Ive heard of a boa by that common name, whats the species name?
Not sure exactly what your looking for, but if you can provide suitable housing and dont mind frozen mice/rats in your freezer, then read up on them and go for it.
If its a first snake (ever) maybe hold off till you get an idea about its care.
Barring that, snakes are cool and amazing creatures, I think you'll get hooked on them!
