Pictures that make some people jealous :-D.

I just wanted to create a thread where people post random pictures of where they are from or where they have been or whatever. Doesn't have to be impressive to anyone but yourself, or something that wows even the stuffiest critics. If something sparks your interest tell the poster, ask questions about the pictures. It can be a learning experience.

My pics are mostly from areas of where I live or from road trips. I just feel like sharing. I like cars and I mountain bike, so my pics will most likely revolve around those themes.

This is Angeles Crest highway in Los Angeles National Forest at about 5300 feet of elevation.

Couldn't fit it all in.

Look for a semi on the road in this picture... Kinda brings things into perspective. There was a sign at the viewing area that said before the made room for the road the canyon came to a point where a man could touch both sides. There was a picture on display of a man standing between the two canyon walls.

This kind of stuff should not be posted on the chameleon forum section. It should be posted under The Lizard Lounge. Not to rain on your parade but Brad (the site owner) will not like it.

It is a general photography thread. If Brad has an issue he can move it to wherever he likes. He can even delete for all I care. I just created it because some of us were posting photos in a thread and getting off topic. But thanks for the concern.

And no rain here, not for another 8 months I would expect.;)

Badass pics man and i love your wrx. Some good looking photos you took. Whats up with that sheriff chopper? that things huge.

superrad-it takes literally 3 seconds to move a thread, i dont think he'll mind.

A motor cycle had collided with a car a few turns up. They were going to medi-vac the rider to a local hospital. They weren't sure if the rider would make it and wanted to make sure they secured him properly before moving him to the chopper. That is why the chopper is in stand-by mode with the engines shut off. This is the second time I have been around when they have landed on the road. Another time they had lifted an old man who was lost and were dropping him off at a turn out where paramedics were waiting. I was parked and standing on the turn out they landed on... My car (top was down) and myself had sand in places I don't wish to discus!;):D

Another side story to that picture with the fire truck parked in front of my car... The fireman driving the truck was running past my car when he forgot he hadn't put out his wheel chocks. He stopped and asked if I could run over to his truck and secure his wheels. He had to go farther down the road to stop traffic because the chopper was about to take off... Which is why we parked behind his truck, for cover (I learned from that last time I got dusted).

And thanks for the compliments!

nice man way to really rub it in lol. i like the pics i will have to come out there sometime and see all this for myself.i will post some pic's of where i live hopefully tomorrow.:D

Yeah those are some really nice photo's. I have a few I need to post from pictures I take flying all over California.

Nico, I think that's a Sikorsky S-61N but don't quote me on it. Use to these a lot on base down in L.A. They are used for fire, rescue, transport and other various military and civilian duties.

some areal shots would be sweet.

Hey, I know that area very well. Right near the pic where you are near the tunnel there is a great place to go clif jumping into a pool. It's in the canyon directly tot he south west. The trail head is just SW of you location in that photo.

I grew up at the base of Angeles Crest and would go up there a few times a week:cool:

is it hard to get to? That'd be pretty cool to check out. OOOOH wait, is the trail the same as the one just down the road with the parking lot? I didn't hike the trail but I parked and walked around the trail head a bit.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! The one above the clouds was fantastic! I would definatly love to take my motorcycle on em, making me jealous that i cant exactly do that right now.

Here is a pic I took at The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. I believe the building with the lights is the Wells Fargo bank building.

Sorry for the quality... it was a scanned photo

This cracks me up... This is why I am glad I live in OC... and the south end of it. I used to drive a service van. I would see a lot of stuff on the road. This is creative. It is also a TV on wheels... or is it?

As a Crown tech we would sometimes have to stand up and lay down some large machines. This was one of those days. (That isn't me in the photo...)

I garuntee you did not see the trail. It is almost impossible to find unless someone tells you about it.

The cliff jumping place is across from a turn out on the uphill side when making a left turn(heading toward palmdale) that has a dirt wall piled up on it with one pine tree on it. Trail is market with a yellow pole, about 6 inch diameter. The kind you find in parking lots.

To get to it you have to cross a stream many times, and then rock hop and eventually, you will need to wade in 3-4 feet of water and then swim across a pool. The trail is sooo easy to follow though. The whole way every rock is covered in taggin. I and many people have made it with a cooler full of beverages, though I wouldn't recomend jumping the first few times after beverages. p.s. test the water depth first;)

It's called monkey canyon by all the people on the LA side and something like wikiup by the palmdale people. pm me if you want gps/google earth directions. My pc just crashed, but Ill post a pic of me jumping when I get the back up going.

Cool maybe I'll check it out sometime. Isn't the road always closed from palmdale and from crystal lake? Before the fires back in 02 I drove up 39 as far as I could. It ended at this HUGE sweeping turn. I could see wilson in the distance. I think I was like a mile from where it connects to hwy 2. I don't even think you can get up that far on 39 anymore. All I ever hear is that 39 hasn't connected for the last 30 years. I guess the road washed out?

A couple pics I posted in a different thread, but still cool, and a couple new ones. I can't seem to find any decent pics. Here we go:
