Pickle when he is out & about, he is about 8 ft in the air on the framework, that holds my lights, misters & drippers. This is his favorite place.

personaly, I still can't get over the gret rack system that all the lights and misters are conected to...what a great place for him to climb on.

He looks happy and content. They always love to climb to high places. It is also warmer there and all the cords remind him of vines and branches. He would probably want to stay there all day.

How often do our pampered exotics turn their noses up at our attempts to create little habitats that look or feel somewhat natural (well to human eyes). Those rock bowls and other terrarium furniture, pretty realistic plants and flowers, water features, rain chambers, rainforests with live bushes, natural branches, correct lighting, and something with nice looks. What do they do? Decide they want to spend time on a clump of totally artificial cables, window blinds, light fixtures, or misting system hoses. I have a ball python who insists on a soft flannel pillowcase as his hide. He will have none of the natural caves, water bowls, cork bark flats, or realistic terrarium substrates...only cage carpet, smooth plastic surfaces and his "blue blankie".

I completely agree with your snake. I'd prefer soft flannel over a fake rock any day.

thanks for all the kind words about Pickle, he is a hoot. He loves to come out for the day but I am worrying if he gets as much UVB as he should have. Lots of days he is only in his cage under a uvb 7 - 830 and 5 -7. that is only 3 1/2 hours a day, should I make him stay in more?

No your prob fine just because they are in their cage doesnt mean they are basking in the uvb so im sure hell go there if he wants some
